Background and Discussion:
Harris County VSD was tasked with investigating the establishment of a veterans docket with the intent of expediting assistance to veterans in the Harris County Jail (Dec 5,2023 CC agenda, item 263). From the Court discussion, VSD understood the next step would be to conduct an analysis and report back to the Commissioners Court in the first quarter 2024. Data indicate over 2,700 veterans per year pass through the Harris County Jail with an average daily census of approximately 280.
