Background and Discussion: Probate Court 1, 2 and 5 were all provided parking spaces through Harris County for 100% (12 employees each court) of their employees.

Probate Court 4 has 12 employees but three employees do not have a parking space in the 1401 Congress Parking Garage. Harris County has provided for the Judge, Associate Judge and for the two court investigators. All other employees have private contracts.

With baseball season fast approaching, our three employees will be required to pay between $30.00-50.00 to park daily in a surface lot. The 1401 garage is reserved for contractors and juror parking only. The employee without parking spaces cannot financially afford to come to work and pay even $30.00 a day to park. We ask that Commissioners Court grant three additional spaces for our employees in the 1401 Congress garage. This is not a financial obligation request to the county. The employees will be required to pay their monthly parking contract. We just need to accommodate their parking and financial needs immediately.

The Parking Coordinator team has previously been working on this issue and we were recently informed that they could not accommodate three additional spaces.

Expected Impact:

Zero impact financially to the county.

Great impact to the employees of this county.
