Background and Discussion:
Harris County, acting through Harris County Public Health ("HCPH"), participates in the Strategic National Stockpile ("SNS"), which includes medications and medical supplies. Harris County desires to collaborate with Crosby Independent School District (ISD) to enhance Harris County's ability to respond to a catastrophic incident or other communicable threat. Harris County and Crosby ISD desire to enter into an agreement for a mass prophylaxis open point of dispensing ("Closed Pod") to dispense medications and supplies to the public utilizing Crosby ISD's facilities. Harris County finds that an agreement with Crosby ISD for an Open Pod serves a public purpose of Harris County.
Expected Impact:
It is expected that if the Strategic National Stockpile were needed to be deployed within Harris County, providing an Open POD setting on Crosby ISD's property will ensure that medical countermeasures can be distributed to the public living in the Crosby ISD area in a timely manner.
