Background and Discussion: Texas Government Code 508.322, Release Restitution Fund, was amended by adding how restitution payments will be disbursed by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) through House Bill 3603 during the 88th Legislative Session.
Expected Impact: This will impact how the TDCJ disburses restitution to victims. Effective December 1, 2023,all restitution payments received by the TDCJ will be transmitted to the check of court that entered the order of restitution. Inmate funds passed through Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ)
