Background and Discussion:
The project is located in north Harris County in the Cypress Creek watershed, north of FM 1960, south of Cypress Creek, and east of Hardy Toll Road. The project area consists of approximately 84 acres of single-family residential homes. The existing system is a concrete curb and gutter and primarily drains into Briar Creek (K117-00-00). A 72" RCP with associated inlets also aids in draining the western portion of the site. The scope of the project includes constructing a drainage swale and underlying storm sewer behind the commercial tract along FM 1960. This contract includes construction services for the construction phase.
Expected Impact:
This project seeks to reduce flood risk and strengthen resiliency in Harris County by assisting in the alleviation of structural flood damage to homes in the community. This contract is a step in the process to reduce the financial, physical, and emotional burden flood damage places on homeowners and will reduce the financial impact of recovery costs to the Memorial Hills subdivision homeowners, Harris County, and FEMA.
