Background and Discussion:
The Harris County Sheriff's Office started the Project Lifesaver program in 2019 through the Kevin & Avonte Grant. Project Lifesaver is a locative (search & rescue) program for individuals with cognitive conditions like autism and dementia, who tend to wander. Clients enrolled in the program receive a bracelet which emits a radio frequency that can be detected with Project Lifesaver equipment. Since implementation, we have ninety-four (94) clients signed up and numerous booked to receive the Project Lifesaver bracelet. With this donation, it will further assist with providing bracelets and equipment needed to be issued to the families.
Expected Impact:
This donation will positively impact our program as it will allow us to purchase equipment to not only better serve the program but the clients who are enrolled or will be enrolled in the program.
